Expectations During Air Duct Maintenance
06/25/2014 Back To BlogWhen it comes to keeping your home clean and free of dirt and grime, perhaps one of the most difficult to perform would be air duct maintenance. However, it is difficult not because of the fact that the whole process is complicated and intricate, but because of the fact that not many people are actually aware of how to perform HVAC maintenance, or know where the main filter is to perform home air filter cleaning. Fortunately, while the terms might be a little complicated, keeping your duct system clean is nowhere near impossible. Here are a few things you can expect when performing this type of maintenance.
Expect to get down and dirty
Home air duct cleaningvia cleansing the ventilation system is all about making sure that it is completely free of dust, mold or anything else that could be stuck on the vents. This means that you can expect to get a lot of dirt on you during the whole cleaning process. Make sure to wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty and if you have allergies, always wear a respirator before you begin.
Make sure to have the right tools
You can expect that the vents will likely be screwed shut, so be prepared to make use of tools such as screwdrivers and the like. You will also be required to have something that can reach down into the vents (though not too deep), so it would be best to have a vacuum cleaner with the right hose attached on the ready. For cleaning the filter (so that you don’t have to worry about air filter replacement), a small brush will be more than enough to clean it.
There is indeed plenty to expect when it comes to proper maintenance of the duct system, but the results are most definitely worthwhile. So long as you always take care never to damage the ventilation system or the filters, everything will be fine.
